TAX CREDITS AND INCENTIVES

LET'S GO SOLAR

As a homeowner or business, you can benefit from generous tax incentives and grants to make solar more affordable. Here's how:

  • Federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC): This fantastic incentive allows you to reduce up to 30% of your solar installation cost from your federal taxes.

  • State and Local Perks: Many states, cities, and utility companies offer their own grants, rebates, and tax benefits. Every region is different, so it's worth checking what's available in your area.

  • Want More Details? Dive deep into the Database of State Incentives for Renewables & Efficiency (DSIRE) to discover incentives tailored to your location.

Remember, incentives can change, so contact us for assistance! Our team is happy to provide guidance through incentive programs.

Going solar has never been so rewarding!

IS YOUR LOCATION READY?

A FEW TIPS

Deciding to transition to solar energy for your home or business is a commendable choice!. To ascertain if your location is ripe for it, consider the following:

  1. Sunlight Hours: More sunny days equals more energy. Refer to solar insolation maps, like Solar Energy Maps, to gauge your location's average sunlight hours.

  2. Roof Direction & Pitch: In the Northern Hemisphere, south-facing roofs (and vice-versa for the Southern Hemisphere) are prime candidates, however east/west pitches will produce very well too. The optimal angle is often your local latitude. Learn more at Roof Direction Guide.

  3. Roof Health & Space: Ensure you have a robust roof in good condition, as solar panels will last over 25 years! You want to make sure the roof lasts that long too.

SOLAR FINANCING

WE LIKE TO KEEP IT SIMPLE.

Investing in a solar system for your home or business? Exploring the right financing method is paramount. Here's a brief overview:

  1. Solar Loans: These are specific loans tailored for solar installations. Solar loans allow you to borrow money to purchase and install your solar system. Just like a home loan, you'll repay this over time, with interest. The key advantage? You own the system outright once it's installed, which can add value to your property.

  2. In Montana, you can check out the DEQ Alternative Energy Revolving Loan Program (https://deq.mt.gov/energy/Programs/AERLP) which is an excellent, self-funding program run by great people!

  3. Home Equity Loans: Some homeowners opt to use a home equity loan or line of credit to finance their solar installations. Given the potential for solar to increase home value, this can be a sensible option.

  4. Personal Loans: If you have good credit, you might consider a personal loan to fund your solar project. While interest rates might be higher than solar-specific or home equity loans, they offer flexibility and quick access to funds.

  5. Local Credit Union speciality Solar financing programs. Solar Marmot has partnered with local banks that provide very attractive Solar loan terms. Inquire with us!

  6. Cash!
